Studio Chimera is a multidisciplinary hybrid tech company and,  architectural studio, established to find solutions in the field of computational design, data analysis, simulation, and optimization processes. 

Founded by Arch. Ran Shabtay, Studio Chimera operates worldwide, specializing in Artificial Intelligence algorithms, Multi-Agent System (MAS), and Evolutionary Computational Systems (ECS). Studio Chimera collaborates with different institutes and universities worldwide and participates in many related projects, while developing urban and buildings analyses of environmental conditions and public spaces and of energy consumptions, both in building and urban scale, in order to achieve optimized and much more efficient solutions.


Studio Chimera offers multiple services as a multidisciplinary platform exploring the parametric architectural and digital design technologies in the built environment.  With a dynamic team of computational designers, algorithm engineers, and software developers, STUDIO CHIMERA is developing innovative and sustainable applications. Our passion and curiosity motivate us to develop and research these fields, using a variety of means such as hands-on workshops, educational programs, exhibitions, as well as theoretical and practical studies.


Ran is an Architect, Lecturer, Researcher, Curator and Computational Design Specialist in the field of Parametric Design Digital tools and the Digital culture .


Ran has an M.Arch Degree from the Universalized Politecnico of Catalonia (IAAC) in the Intelligence Cities/ Emergent Territories unit. A Thesis M.Arch from the Tel Aviv University (With honors). A B.Arch. from Bezalel Academy of Architecture and Design and a B.A in History and Philosophy from Tel Aviv University.


Today Ran's research focuses on nonlinear parametric systems, complex fields, and bottom-up intelligence in parametric design. Ran teaches in the Architecture Department of Bezel Academy of Design and Fine Arts, focusing on Paramedic Design, digital tools, digital fabrication courses, and Smart Technologies. In 2016 Ran won the global Laka Competition - Architecture That Reacts with his thesis project "Surface on Demand" and presented his work at the MAXXI and the Venice Biennale.
